AGE GROUP QUALIFYING


1.0 AGE GROUP QUALIFICATION SYSTEM

THECHAMPIONSHIP middle-distance age-group qualification system is based on place getting, as opposed to the accrual of points. This simplified system provides all races with a fair and equitable share of THECHAMPIONSHIP qualification slots and provides athletes with a clear and concise understanding of the process. The allocation of qualification slots to the top six age group finishers from CHALLENGEFAMILY events is designed to ensure that THECHAMPIONSHIP is purely focused on achievement and elite age group performance, cementing the events’ status at the pinnacle of long distance triathlon.

 

2.0 AGE GROUP QUALIFICATION PERIOD

Qualification for THECHAMPIONSHIP Samorin 2018 will commence at Challenge Wanaka on February 18, 2017 and conclude at Challenge Salou in May 2018 (Date TBC).

 

3.0 AGE GROUP SLOT ALLOCATION

The allocation of age group slots for THECHAMPIONSHIP Samorin 2018 is outlined as follows:

3.1 Age Group Winners THECHAMPIONSHIP 2017

  • One slot for each male and female Age Group winner at THECHAMPIONSHIP 2017.
  • All Age Group winner at THECHAMPIONSHIP 2017 will be required to validate their THECHAMPIONSHIP 2018 slot by completing one CHALLENGEFAMILY event (full or middle distance) within the qualification period and prove this by mail to thechampionship@challenge-family.com.

 

3.2 Challenge Family Age Group Athlete Slots (Individuals)

  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers in each male and female age group at CHALLENGEFAMILY full distance and middle distance races.
  • Slots will roll down in each category up to 12th place.
  • Qualifiers will have four (4) weeks to confirm their spot after the qualifying race.

 

3.3 Relay Team (Age Group) Athlete Slots

  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers of the mixed relay team at all CHALLENGEFAMILY full and middle distance events (where relays are conducted).
  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers of the all-male relay team at all CHALLENGEFAMILY full and middle distance events (where relays are conducted).
  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers of the all-female relay team at all CHALLENGEFAMILY full and middle distance events (where relays are conducted).
  • Team structure at THECHAMPIONSHIP must comprise a minimum of two (2) members of the qualifying team racing at THECHAMPIONSHIP.
  • Slots will roll down in each category up to 12th place.
  • Team qualifiers will have four (4) weeks to confirm their spot after the qualifying race.

 

3.4 Age Group Loyalty Qualification

  • Loyalty slots will be available to any age group athlete who participates in three (3) or more CHALLENGEFAMILY races (full or middle distance) within the qualification period for THECHAMPIONSHIP.
  • Loyalty slots are available to any age group athlete regardless of their finishing time or finishing position at CHALLENGEFAMILY events, so long as they have participated in a minimum of three (3) or more CHALLENGEFAMILY events within the qualification period.
  • Athletes will be required to submit a request (via email) for one of the loyalty slots and prove they registered and started three CHALLENGEFAMILY races within the qualification period. A total of 300 slots are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Upon receipt of the request from the first 300 loyalty qualifiers, and proof of the three races, the “loyalty athlete” will be provided with a registration code to which they can use to register for THECHAMPIONSHIP on-line. The “loyalty athlete” will have to the close of registration period to complete their on-line registration using the registration form.

 

3.5 Regional Championships

  • For any regional championship events announced and conducted during the qualification period these regional championship events will carry double slots then all other Challenge Family events.

 

3.6 Corporate Cup – CHALLENGELISBOA

  • One slot for each of the top ten (10) finishers of the relay team at the Corporate Cup at CHALLENGELISBOA
  • Team structure at THECHAMPIONSHIP must comprise a minimum of two (2) members of the qualifying team racing at THECHAMPIONSHIP.
  • Team qualifiers will have four (4) weeks to confirm their spot after the qualifying race.
  • Slots will roll down in each category up to 20th place.

 

3.7 New Events in the Qualification Period

For all new CHALLENGEFAMILY events announced and conducted in the qualification period for THECHAMPIONSHIP 2017, each new Event will carry the following qualifying slots.

  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers in each male and female age group at CHALLENGEFAMILY full distance and middle distance races.
  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers of the mixed relay team at all CHALLENGEFAMILY full and middle distance events (where relays are conducted).
  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers of the all-male relay team at all CHALLENGEFAMILY full and middle distance events (where relays are conducted).
  • One slot for each of the top six (6) finishers of the all-female relay team at all CHALLENGEFAMILY full and middle distance events (where relays are conducted).
  • Slots will roll down in each category up to 12th place.

 

4.0 QUALIFIER ENTRY SYSTEM

  • Upon qualifying for THECHAMPIONSHIP at any one of the qualifier events, the qualifying athlete will receive a registration code (via email) from CHALLENGEFAMILY. This code will allow the athlete to complete the on-line registration form for THECHAMPIONSHIP at the event website. Qualification for THECHAMPIONSHIP is only finalized upon completion of the on-line registration form and full payment of the event registration fee.
  • The qualifying athlete will have four (4) weeks to register for THECHAMPIONSHIP (and pay the event registration fee) following the receipt of the registration code. Failure to register within the 4-weeks expiry period will waive the qualification. After the 4-weeks period the left qualification slots will roll down up to max. 12th place.
  • CHALLENGEFAMILY may offer discretionary special invitations to athletes to participate in THECHAMPIONSHIP. These discretionary special invitations may be age-group athletes, professional athletes, media personalities, sponsors or any special invitation as Challenge Family wishes to issue.
